Make Trader Joe's a sanctuary from ICE's violence.

Trader Joe's

A Sanctuary from ICE

Since the killing of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, deaths in ICE custody have continued to climb. And, as demonstrated by those examples— being a US citizen doesn't necessarily make you safe. ICE agents are unpredictable, detainment of US citizens is increasingly common and racial profiling is rampant. Unless we're all safe, none of us are.

That's why we presented our Sanctuary Store Proposal. This proposal would ensure that, unless presented with a judicial warrant, ICE would not be allowed to enter our stores. But for Trader Joe's, even that modest commitment was out of the question.

All we ask is that Trader Joe's make our safety a priority.

Our Sanctuary Store proposal could achieve that, and its only obstacle is Trader Joe's unwillingness to seriously engage.

And, make no mistake— that doesn't only endanger crew members. Our customers visit us with their families. They're entrusting Trader Joe's with the safety of their elders and children. While Trader Joe's may not take that responsibility seriously, we absolutely do.

Tell Trader Joe's: Protect the safety of your customers and crew members. If ICE cannot provide a valid judicial warrant, commit to keeping them out!

For years, your workers across multiple locals have asked for the same thing— a commitment to their safety.

ICE has shown their behavior to be unpredictable and violent. And, your workers have presented you with a simple way to protect them from that: by agreeing to their Sanctuary Store Proposal.

This proposal asks that you not allow ICE agents into your stores without being presented with a valid judicial warrant. This modest commitment, while taking little effort to accommodate, could potentially save lives.

I am joining your workers, organized as Trader Joe's United, in asking that you make the commitment to make your store a sanctuary from ICE's violence.
