Tennessee Is NOT For Sale!
Governor Bill Haslam
Public jobs in Tennessee are under attack. The Haslam Administration has quietly launched a scheme to outsource facilities management for every public building in the state, including state colleges and universities, prisons, state parks and National Guard armories.
The plan impacts thousands of working people in every single county in Tennessee as personnel, pay, and benefits are threatened in order to “reduce operating costs.” In the past, outsourcing has proven to be detrimental to working conditions, to the quality of service provided, and has not been proven to be a worthwhile investment of Tennesseeans’ hard-earned tax dollars.
We, the undersigned, oppose the Haslam Administration’s plan to privatize public jobs. We urge our political leaders to put the people of Tennessee first, and protect public jobs from profit-seeking corporate enterprises.

I urge you to immediately end your plan to privatize the maintenance and management of state properties. The scheme could negatively impact the lives of tens of thousands of hardworking public servants in every county in our state, by "reducing costs" through cutting hours, benefits, and pay. In a state that already leads the country in the rate of minimum wage jobs without benefits, privatization would only worsen our economy. Moreover, it would undoubtedly result in the decline of quality of services, as a private, for-profit corporation would prioritize its own bottom line and profit over the needs and wants of Tennesseans. Put the people first, Governor. End the privatization scheme now.
