UC Davis: Don't Eliminate Our Work Schedule!
UC Davis Management
Help stop UC Davis from eliminating the 9/80 work schedule for Teamsters Skilled Trades employees! The 9/80 schedule is critical for many employees, allowing workers to spend time with their families, contribute to their communities and rest and recharge for the work week. UCD has moved to unilaterally eliminate the 9/80 schedule, wrongfully claiming their decision is backed by our Union contract, and refusing to meet with workers to discuss the impacts of this change.
Sign your name to demand that UC Davis listen to the workers who keep their campus running and follow the contract they agreed to by negotiating this proposed change with workers!

To UC Davis Leaders and Management:
We are writing to express our concern about the recent decision to eliminate the 9/80 work schedule in favor of a standard five-day workweek. We understand the complexities involved in managing work schedules and respect the challenges faced by our organization. However, we would like to present our perspective and the impact this change will have on our personal and professional lives.
The 9/80 work schedule has been immensely beneficial for all of us, allowing us to effectively balance our work responsibilities with personal commitments. The added day off every other week has provided us with the opportunity to:
1. Rest and Rejuvenate: The added time off is crucial for rest and recovery, helping us to recharge physically and mentally and improving our performance and morale at work.
2. Spend Quality Time with Family: The extended weekend gives us the chance to spend valuable time with our families.
3. Attend Appointments: The extra day allows us to attend necessary appointments without interfering with our work responsibilities.
4. Give Back: Thanks to our schedule, we’re able to volunteer in our community and in religious organizations.
Given these significant benefits, the proposed change to a five-day workweek would significantly impact our work-life balance and overall well-being. We believe that keeping the 9/80 schedule benefits both workers and management, as it not only supports our personal needs but also contributes to our productivity and job satisfaction.
We request that UC Davis reconsider the decision to eliminate the 9/80 work schedule. Alternatively, we would appreciate the opportunity to discuss potential compromises or flexible arrangements that could accommodate both management’s goals and worker needs.
Thank you for taking the time to consider our petition. With open communication and understanding, we believe it’s possible to find a solution that aligns with the best interests of both the organization and its employees.
In solidarity,
UC Davis Teamsters
