UCSF: Don’t Degrade Worker Salaries at UCSF Fresno!

UCSF Leaders

We are writing to express our strong opposition and disappointment to the UC San Francisco’s proposal to align administrative workers’ salaries at the UCSF Fresno campus with that of UC Merced. Our work supports the UCSF mission in the Valley--it should not be less valued than that of our counterparts in the Bay Area.

We are experiencing unprecedented inflation and gas prices in the Valley, like most of the state of California. Current salaries do not provide enough for a comfortable middle class living and lowering salaries will push workers into poverty. An institution such as UC San Francisco should not degrade salaries just because it wants to.

We demand that UCSF leave Fresno Campus administrative workers’ salaries as they are. Instead of lowering salaries, we support action that would raise Merced workers’ salaries to a respectable middle-class level, not lowering that of UCSF-Fresno campus workers.
