UNSW: Pledge to Strike for Climate on September 20th

UNSW Students and Staff

Whilst global temperatures rise, beginning immense ecological and human destruction, the fossil fuel industry has been emitting more and more greenhouse gasses and exporting more and more coal than ever. An apathetic and uncaring government is happy to sit by whilst dirty coal is dug out of the ground at the expense of our future.

Their climate destruction has not been left unchallenged. A powerful movement has grown to challenge climate inaction and take power back from the fossil fuel industry. This is a movement of everyday students and workers who are re-writing our political future. At UNSW, hundreds of students have already walked off the campus for climate strikes that have had an immense political impact. On September 20th, students and workers have committed to walk off from their jobs and study to put this climate destruction to a halt.

This massive strike could be the turning point that stops climate inaction in Australia.

Pledge now to join UNSW students and staff to strike for our climate on September 20th

----------

Since the first climate strike which saw hundreds of thousands of school children and their supporters take to the streets in protest of climate inaction, a massive movement has grown to demand climate action, before it's too late.  These are our demands:

1.     100% publicly owned renewable energy by 2030.

2.     Just transition into sustainable jobs for all affected workers.

3.     No new coal, oil, or gas projects -- Stop Adani.

Already this year, hundreds of students have walked off the campus and on to the streets to strike for the future of the climate. This time, it needs to be bigger and stronger than ever before. We need you to join UNSW students and staff on strike on September 20th – for all our futures.
