UVM & UVMMC: Protect and Support our Front Line Healthcare Providers

Dr. Leffler, UVMMC Pres., Dr. Brumsted, UVM Network Pres. & Dr. Garimella, UVM Pres.

Now is the time to protect our healthcare workers who protect us.

Parking: Support our front line health care providers during the COVID-19 crisis by calling for the UVM administration to allow UVMMC health care workers to park in their empty parking lots--ending the use of shuttles, which creates a needless and substantial risk to our frontline workforce.

Housing: Another easy way to support front line healthcare providers during the COVID-19 crisis is to call for UVMMC administration to arrange the ability to stay in dorms, hotels or other similar housing options to protect healthcare providers' vulnerable family members from COVID-19 exposure.

We the undersigned are calling for:

· An immediate policy change to allow all healthcare workers to park onsite in the UVMMC parking garages and the adjacent UVMMC & UVM parking lots in order to protect the healthcare work force from unnecessary exposure to COVID-19.

· Alternative housing accommodations provided at no charge to those healthcare workers who are worried about exposing their families. An example of the alternative housing includes utilizing the neighboring empty dormitory rooms at UVM.

Now is the time to protect our healthcare workers who protect us.
