The Trump administration has announced a new policy that will cut the fines placed on nursing homes that have put their residents at risk.

But this is not the first time Trump has sided with nursing homes over their residents.

Trump has granted senior care facilities an 18-month grace period on fines relating to eight new health and safety rules.

They’ve even rolled back an Obama-era rule that had protected residents from being forced into arbitration to settle legal disputes instead of allowing their cases to see the light of day.

According to National Public Radio (NPR):

“The decrease in fines is one of the starkest examples of how, in response to industry prodding, the Trump administration is rolling back Obama’s aggressive regulation of health care services.”

We cannot allow the Trump administration’s cozy relationship with the health care industry to put patients and older Americans at risk.
