We Want the City of Ottawa to Participate in the Transition to Renewable Energy

City of Ottawa, Ottawa City Council

In the face of the climate crisis, we want the City of Ottawa to participate in the TRANSITION TO RENEWABLE ENERGY.

1 - We want our city to welcome and encourage the development of renewable energy and energy storage projects so as to enable Ottawans to benefit from energy affordability, increased energy security and community resilience.

2 - In July 2023 Ottawa City Council paused the siting of renewable energy projects - effectively banning renewable energy and energy storage projects in any zone of Ottawa. We want the City of Ottawa to lift this ban, minimize delay and implement zoning and permitting regulations that allow rural, suburban and urban areas of Ottawa to benefit from these projects. Communities across North America and Europe have demonstrated that solar, wind and battery energy storage are viable, regulated, and safe technologies.
