Where are the City of Ottawa's Emissions Reports?

WHEREAS the City of Ottawa committed to ANNUALLY report to the residents of Ottawa on both community and corporate greenhouse gas emissions, but has failed to do since the 2021 emissions inventory report (2020 data);

WHEREAS timely measurement and transparent reporting of emissions are essential to managing climate action effectively and ensuring public accountability;

WHEREAS the Environment and Climate Change Committee was told by staff the overdue report would be forthcoming in December 2024;

I/We the undersigned petition the Ottawa City Council as follows:

  1. Request staff to prioritize annual reporting to council and residents on greenhouse gas emissions and progress towards climate targets.

  2. Issue the emissions inventory reports for 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 as soon as possible.
