Winchester OTs and PTs Deserve a Fair Contract

Winchester School Committee

We are reaching out to fellow WEA members and community supporters because we need your help. The Physical and Occupational Therapists organized in 2019 to improve their working conditions. Winchester is paying their OT & PT staff $20,000 to $40,000 less annually than the ten communities they compare us to for salary studies. Our group has consistently asked to be included in the Unit A contract. Unfortunately, the district has vehemently denied our request. Recently, the district offered us an agreement that would require us to forfeit our fundamental union benefits and decrease our salaries significantly.

We know that with the backing of our union siblings and community supporters, we can get the district to settle a fair contract. As educators we want to work in partnership with our community to foster a respectful work environment for our staff and a healthy learning environment for our children. We respectfully ask for your support. Kindly, sign our petition to support our accretion into Unit A.

We, the undersigned, are the unified voice of educators, parents, students, and concerned community members in Winchester. We respectfully ask the Winchester School Committee and its representatives to continue working with the WEA OTs and PTs to reach a fair and dignified agreement.

Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists uplift the quality of our schools and the daily lives of our children, especially those with the highest needs. Prompt action is needed to reach an equitable contract for some of the hardest working but underpaid education professionals in the greater Boston area. Our schools can’t afford to continue undervaluing these essential members of our community!
