Beyond the Travel Ban to North Korea: Exposing U.S. Propaganda and Fueling the Fight for Liberation!
The U.S. has restricted travel to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) since 2017, and recently renewed the ban until August 31, 2026. The travel ban is more than a legislative restriction — it’s a tool of imperialist control that perpetuates dehumanizing myths and isolates Koreans from their families. Join Nodutdol on Saturday 6/7 for a political education event that unpacks the travel ban’s role in upholding US propaganda and preventing diasporic solidarity.
Through media excerpts, firsthand accounts, and documentation of life in the DPRK, we’ll challenge mainstream narratives and explore:
How the travel ban fuels fear mongering about the DPRK
The human cost of U.S. policies on divided Korean families
Paths to resistance, from unlearning propaganda to anti-imperialist organizing
Whether you’re new to information about the DPRK or deepening your analysis, come ready to question assumptions, share insights, and join the fight for Korean liberation and against the travel ban. We will also be offering food, raffle prizes, and merch in exchange for donations to fund the upcoming People's Summit for Korea and related activities! The summit, which will take place July 25-27 in NYC, will bring together organizers in the Korean diaspora and US with organizers in south Korea to strengthen and unify our struggle as one.
Accessibility notes: Masks will be required except when eating or drinking. We will have some extras on hand. Venue is fully ADA compliant with two single-stall bathrooms on-site and ground-level entry.
Waitlist policy: Please arrive punctually by 2 pm. After 2:30 pm, the seats of any registrants who have not yet arrived will be given to those on the waitlist.
