Host Contact Info:

SURJ Bay Area's Queer and Trans (QT) Committee is hosting a screening of Pride, which highlights a true story of solidarity across identities for social and economic justice. This even is open to the public. Everybody is welcome to join us for an afternoon of film and snacks!

About the film: “Realising that they share common foes in Margaret Thatcher, the police and the conservative press, London-based gay and lesbian activists lend their support to striking miners in 1984 Wales.“

Tickets: This NOTAFLAF screening is also a fundraiser for SURJ Bay Area. As a chapter, at least 50% of funds raised are sent directly to BIPOC-led partner organizations, and other funds go toward making events like this more accessible. Please choose a ticket price from the sliding scale that is meaningful to you. Our platform doesn’t allow the sale of $0 tickets, so if you’d like to attend the event for free, email, and we’ll save your spot on our guest list.

The film will include closed captioning.

The Sierra Club is located at 2101 Webster Street between 21st and 22nd Street in Oakland. The Sierra Club Offices are on the 13th floor. There is a bank of elevators that go to the 12th floor and above.

Parking and Transportation: The closest BART station is 19th Street BART and the Sierra Club is 4 blocks from BART. If you come by Bart, head north on Broadway and then east (right) on 21st Street and left on Webster to the Building entrance. If you are driving, please try to carpool and arrive early to leave time to find a spot. If you’d like a ride in a car to the event, please email by 1/30 so this can be arranged.

Building Accessibility: There are two entrances to Sierra Club Office building on Webster and 21st both of which are accessible for mobility devices. The building has an elevator, and the kitchen space, conference room, and restrooms can also all accommodate mobility devices.

Scents: The Sierra Club’s space endeavors to offer a scent free environment; however as the Club is currently transitioning towards the use of only scent free products, we cannot guarantee an entirely scent free space. We ask everyone to please arrive fragrance free to support access for folks who experience multiple chemical sensitivities and allergies. This means using only body products and laundry detergent that say “fragrance free” or “unscented” on the label and do not have scented ingredients.

Restrooms: Sierra Club has two multiple-stall, accessible restrooms labeled with gendered plaques, which will be covered with “toilet” signs for this event. Please use any restroom of your choice. We will provide fragrance free soap in each restroom; please use this rather than that from the dispensers.

Childcare: Chilcare is available at this event. If you would like childcare, please email by 1/30 so we can prepare our space.

Please email with questions regarding any access needs not addressed here.
