The Plant-Based Universities core team are excited to announce details of our summer camps in August 2024! Our summer camps are the biggest, most valuable and most fun events we organise all year – and we want you to be there.

This year, we will be hosting three summer camps: one in Germany and two in the United Kingdom. You are welcome to attend any one of the camps – UK residents, feel free to head over the Channel to join in with the Europe camp, and vice versa. We're especially keen for more experienced UK-based student campaigners to share what they've learnt in Europe! Here are the dates:

1. Europe camp (Jugendzeltplatz Bonn, western Germany): Thu 1 – Sun 4 Aug

2. Northern England camp (Ratlingate Scout Activity Centre, Cumbria): Thu 15 – Sun 18 Aug

3. Southern England camp (Scout Adventures Youlbury, Oxfordshire): Thu 22 – Sun 25 Aug

We are building a broad, diverse, international grassroots community at Plant-Based Universities, and we expect there to be a lot of demand for places at these camps. We are particularly keen for people who don't have experience of PBU to come – the training at the camp is designed to give you the skills to set up, run or join a PBU campaign at your university in the new academic year.

We'll be camping together for three nights at campsites with toilets, showers, running water for cooking and washing up, and a campfire. You will take part in a series of workshops and other activities that will give you a really strong grounding in how we make change happen: covering everything from our strategy and Kingian nonviolence to team-building and using social media. Most importantly, you'll connect with, learn from and have fun with other passionate students who care about transformative systems change.

This year we will be running a deposit system where we are asking you to confirm your place with a £10 deposit that will then be returned when you attend the camp. If it turns out you're not able to make it, we will refund your ticket – just let us know at least two weeks beforehand. The purpose of the deposit is to encourage students to fill the place that they sign up for, and to offset the cost of any places that aren't filled. The whole camp is still free: food, campsite, workshops and fun will all be provided for you!

You will be asked to put your first and second choice of camp to attend. This is because if one of the camps gets filled up, we might have to send people to their second choice of camp. After you have completed this form, you will be added to a WhatsApp group chat for the camp you'll be going to! Details on coordinating travel (e.g. car sharing) and sharing tents will be shared in due course through the WhatsApp group chats.

If you will not be a university student in the academic year starting around September 2024, please contact your regional coordinator or email <> before completing the sign-up form and paying the deposit. There may be scope for you to attend, but priority places go to university students.

We can't wait to see you there! ⛺✊🌞
