Dear {{ FirstName | default: 'Friend' }},
Key actions for the upcoming week include the following:
Thanks so much for all that you do each week!
IHB Leadership Team
Let's try something new with this week's Sunday email. There is a tremendous amount of activity for each of our members to choose from each week. Let's think about our work effort as being different types of things to do:
We will try to highlight the type of effort that is being identified for our member participation and will even color code it, Red for Actions ☎️; Yellow for Events 🚕; and Blue for Information items 📘. Let's see if this helps to add some clarity and ease of reading to our emails. If you have comments/suggestions, please share with Gwen Jolley at gmjolley@bellsouth.net.
The RESISTANCE WORK GROUP is the new umbrella for the RALLY TEAM, IHB PUSH BACK, and some IMMIGRATION TEAM initiatives.
"We will never know which act of resistance will be the tipping point . . . will lift someone’s heart on a dark day and give them strength to continue. . . So long as we do not surrender, we will win. It is just a matter of time. And your efforts will be part of the unbroken chain that stretches back to the first protester who raised their voice against injustice. . . Stay strong and keep the faith—like the generations who preceded us. We owe them nothing less.”

If you have questions about any of the above (or have ideas on rally themes and/or locations to share), contact Nancy at: nancywahler@gmail.com.
!! SUMMARY: IHB Push Back, part of the Resistance Work Group (RWG), aims to make it difficult for companies, institutions, and organized groups that are supporting the Trump Regime to continue to do so. Our goal is to make it embarrassing, uncomfortable, or financially disadvantageous for these companies/institutions to continue to support the Regime, by making the public, and especially their customers, aware of their actions.
🚕 If you are interested in what we are doing, join us. We meet every Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. by Zoom. Contact Deb at dstravers@comcast.net to get the link.
!! IHB Push Back continues to support the following initiatives which are focused on the Business pillar:
!! 1. SHAME ON CITIZENS BANK.
Summary: We want to force Citizens Bank (CB) to quit funding CoreCivic and GEO, who build and run the for-profit prisons used to hold ICE detainees under deplorable conditions.
Despite sizable withdrawals by the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization (GBIO) from Citizens Bank, Citizens Bank remains solid in their position with CoreCivic and GEO. There will be a national De-ICE Citizens bank action on June 6. Look for the link to sign-up in the Rally section.
So, what is IHB doing to escalate? We are beginning to “think BIG”. More to come. In the meantime, if you haven’t already done so, sign the petition to Phillies management stating that it is not acceptable to have the ballpark named after Citizens Bank, in light of their funding of ICE prisons.
☎️Action: As you know, our beloved Phillies play home games at Citizens Bank Park. And we think it’s time to let the Phillies’ management know that we are not happy with their biggest sponsor. We are asking that you sign a petition using this link: https://c.org/RnDPz6LHqC.
Background: After months of work from IHB, Philadelphia Indivisible, and the Coalition, we now have Citizens Bank exposed with a lot of negative press about their complicity in detaining immigrants in facilities where they are abused, raped, denied access to medical care, and fed rancid food. SHAME ON CITIZENS BANK!
Stay tuned as our tactics escalate!
For more information, contact Deb at dstravers@comcast.net.
!! 2. PURGE PALANTIR FROM POLITICS
Summary: Palantir, a multi-billion-dollar surveillance company run by far-right billionaires Peter Thiel and Alex Karp, is trying to curry favor with key Committee Members on the Appropriations, Armed Services, Homeland Security, and Foreign Relations Committees. It’s time to tell Congress to take the pledge - no dirty Palantir money! We are joining the American Friends Service Committee’s (AFSC) Purge Palantir from Politics campaign, to keep dirty Palantir money from reaching our MOC’s campaigns. Check out the full list here: https://purgepalantir.com/the-palantir-payroll/.
We discovered Senator Chris Coons' name on the list with a modest campaign contribution of $26,500 from Palantir and are working to speak with his campaign finance manager. And after a call to AFSC, we discovered that we were incorrect last week. Senator Blunt-Rochester and Representative McBride have not yet received any Palantir contributions, but have not yet taken the pledge.
☎️ Action: So, let’s email all three of them this week to strongly encourage them to sign the pledge. Using Democracy I/O, you can draft one message that then goes to all three MOCs.
Sample Message
Background: One of ICE’s top corporate collaborators and technology enablers is Palantir Technologies, a company which donates MILLIONS in political donations to Congress and receives BILLIONS in federal contracts. Palantir’s technology helps ICE track, abduct, and arrest people.
For more information, contact Deb at dstravers@comcast.net.
☎️ New batch of postcards! We just received a new batch of 5000 postcards (to Pennsylvania voters), so we need your help! Postcards can be picked up in one of the following 2 ways:
📘 Do post cards impact election outcomes? Yes! According to our partner the Progressive Turnout Project, research proves that postcards increase Democratic turnout by 1.3%. Read more about the impact of post cards HERE.
These cards are GOTV (get out the vote) cards, so please do NOT mail them now. When completed (addressed, message written, and *stamped), please return them to Sarah or to the “Drop Off” bin on the Evantash porch.
* We expect to complete THOUSANDS of GOTV postcards between now and October, so, if possible, we recommend that you purchase a supply of post card stamps now (since prices are going up to $.65 on July 12).
!! 📘If the circus in Washington D.C. has got you down, advocating right here in Delaware may be the best way to re-ignite your fighting spirit!
June 30th is the last day of the General Assembly's session in Dover, and it will be a sprint to the finish for the next six weeks. Below are some of the top priority bills that IHB is working to pass this session:
☎️ TAKE ACTION: To Stay Informed:
If you would like to get late-breaking updates about hearings and floor votes for these and other bills that IHB is working on, we invite you to join IHB's Signal Group, Voices to Dover, which has 27 members so far. Signal is a convenient, secure way to both communicate bill status and arrange for ride-sharing to Dover.
Joining the group is a 2-step process: first download the Signal application to your phone (it looks like figure below)

As part of our on-going advocacy efforts, the following are actions for your attention and action this week:
!! 🚕 To: All IHB Members – Attend the Latino Summit 2026 - Tuesday, May 19.
Summary: IHB members are invited to the Latino Summit 2026 at the Chase Center at the Riverfront on Tuesday, May 19, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Learn from experts and thought leaders at workshop sessions on Civic Engagement, Economic Empowerment, Education, and Immigration.
Action: Admission is free and lunch is included, but you must register here: https://www.dhcevents.com/
For more details, please contact Sheila Grant (sgrant62@gmail.com).
!! ☎️ 2. To: All IHB Members – Contact Your Senator to Oppose HB321.
Summary: HB 321 would eliminate the requirement for providing public notice in local newspapers of certain government actions, moving the notices only to a government website. If HB321 is passed, the public would have far less access to these notices. We view this change as undemocratic and dangerous. Note that the bill has already cleared the House and the Senate committee, and a Senate floor vote is expected soon.
Action: Call or email your Senator to oppose HB321 - Change to Public Notice Requirement.
Find your Senator here: Find My Legislator - Delaware General Assembly.
Sample Message:
More information here: https://legis.delaware.gov/BillDetail?LegislationId=142930.
- I am a constituent and am writing to ask that you vote "NO" on HB321, Changing Procedures for Public Notice. This bill, if passed, could set a dangerous precedent, reducing public knowledge and engagement in legislative matters, as these matters would no longer appear in newspapers, appearing only on a website. This bill is opposed by Indivisible Highlands, the League of Women Voters, and Spotlight Delaware. Please vote "NO" on HB321.
🚕 Community Connections: Building Democracy Through Small Groups
When the world feels so chaotic, it is good to have folks in your corner with the same set of values, people with whom to bond and share. With this goal in mine, IHB has set-up twelve, small groups that will meet on different days and at varying times to accommodate peoples’ schedules. There is also an assortment of interest areas from just a casual coffee, to those wanting to explore our community, to a men’s group, and an After Hours group for folks who can’t make the Monday meeting.
Check out the other groups that you can join and meet like-minded people. Here is the form to complete and the full list of fun and interesting groups (and, of course, interesting people.). https://forms.gle/AnPV6twqScU8LLYw7
