Thank you for considering to donate to my Deputy Leadership campaign. Every donor and donation makes such a huge difference.
However, I need to set out my campaigns donations policy so that every valued donor is aware of what it means when donating towards my campaign.
The Dawn Butler Deputy Leadership Campaign can only accept donations that meet the legal requirements set out in the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (PPERA).
The campaign can only accept donations if the donor is one of the following:
1. Individuals registered on a UK electoral register, including overseas electors and those leaving bequests
2. Most UK-registered companies
3. Great Britain registered political parties
4. UK-registered trade unions
5. UK-registered building societies
6. UK-registered limited liability partnerships (LLP) that carry on business in the UK
7. UK-registered friendly societies
8. UK-based unincorporated associations that carry on business or other activities in the UK
9. Some types of trust and certain public funds
Please note that when donating to the Dawn Butler Deputy Leadership Campaign you are agreeing to the following:
1. The donation being made is from your funds.
2. Any donation over the value of £500 must be checked by us to make sure that your name is registered on a UK electoral register (including overseas electors) and you consent to us conducting those checks. If we are unable to verify this we retain the right to reject the said donation.
3. Any donation over the value of £1,500 will result in your name and the amount of your donation being made public on the websites of both the UK Parliament's Register of Members' Financial Interests and the Electoral Commission.
The Dawn Butler Deputy Leadership Campaign will publish accounts regularly, indicating all donations received in the previous 3-month period.
