Right now, workers across West Virginia are worried about their jobs and continuing to provide for their families. With recent mass layoff news out of Weirton, our economy and our fellow workers are facing uncertain futures.
At the same time, the West Virginia Legislature is considering a bill that will slash critical unemployment benefits by capping weekly payments and reducing the duration of benefits.
These benefits are a lifeline that workers have earned through hard work, that should safeguard them when hard times arise through no fault of their own. Cutting unemployment benefits will leave many workers unable to keep their homes or feed their families, in addition to destabilizing the overall economy.
It's time to fight for our communities and the hardworking people of West Virginia. Sign the petition now urging your legislators to stand with West Virginia's workers — Protect unemployment benefits and say NO to SB 841!

We need a strong unemployment insurance system now more than ever. West Virginians have worked hard to pay into the system and they should receive the full benefits they’ve earned.
SB 841 will cut unemployment insurance by capping weekly payments and reducing the duration of benefits. This is detrimental to our friends, neighbors, and our entire economy. Please protect West Virginia’s workers facing financial hardship by opposing this bill!
