Host Guidelines - 2021 Basic Income March

COVID Measures: For Organizers this year, we're recommending that guests wear masks and social distance. We've created some suggestions on different types of events your community can do to come together and still demonstrate support for basic income while being safe. When you sign up to host an event, the Income Movement team will be notified and we will reach out and give you supporting information as well as tools and assets to make it easy for you to be successful!

1. IMPORTANT! You need an account with Action Network to set up an event. This is your own unique account that you can use to set up other events in the future, it will not be associated with anyone involved in the Basic Income March. 2. Once you have an account and are logged in, go back to the map page and click the "Host" button to get back to this page. Now you are logged in and ready to proceed.
2a. You'll need to apply to participate with the Income Movement Group to have your event be sponsored by Income Movement. At the bottom of the page you'll find "Find a Group" where you can search Income Movement & apply. Once we approve it, you'll be able to select Income Movement as a sponsor organization.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO DO WHEN FILLING OUT THE FORM IS TO SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE AND CHOOSE FOR YOUR EVENT TO BE SPONSORED BY INCOME MOVEMENT. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY FOR YOUR EVENT TO SHOW UP ON THE MAP AND BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE 2021 BASIC INCOME MARCH.

3. After reading the below info, click "Okay" and you will be taken to the form to set up your event.

4. Name your event your City + Basic Income March (example: Miami Basic Income March). Date for all marches is September 25. We think an early afternoon start time is best for consistency, but if you need it to be another time, go for it.

5. Location should be the starting location for the event (if you are marching to different locations). If you are not yet sure the location of your event, still set up the event now. Put a well known park or gathering place in your area as a temporary placeholder as you work with your city to get permits or other requirements to gather. You can edit and change the location once things are finalized. You want people in your community to know that there is an event being planned so they can sign up and get the date marked on their calendars.

6. Again: scroll to the bottom of the page and choose for your event to be sponsored by Income Movement. This is the only way for your event to show up on the map and be associated with the 2021 Basic Income March.

7. Once you have created an event, Income Movement will be notified and will reach out to you to get you added to our weekly organizers meeting so you can get access to lots of tools and assets that may be helpful for planning your event.
