Call BC NDP and RCMP to denounce yet another raid on Land Defenders!

The RCMP’s Community Industry Response Group (C-IRG) is raiding Wet’suwet’en territory RIGHT NOW and have arrested 5 land defenders. [update: they have been released last night].

The RCMP’s Community Industry Response Group (C-IRG) is raiding Wet’suwet’en territory on March 29th and have arrested 5 land defenders. C-IRG was created in 2017 to intervene in public resistance to private industry. C-IRG is unique to British Columbia; They are militarized, have no budget limit, and officers are paid huge sums to force pipelines, mines, dams, and logging through unceded Indigenous territories. The C-IRG are just another extension of the RCMP’s original task- to remove and separate Indigenous peoples from their land and enforce colonial rule.

Indigenous people should never be removed from their sovereign lands in order to clear the way for a fracked gas pipeline that violates Indigenous rights.

We rise in solidarity with Gidim’ten checkpoint. All those arrested must be released, C-IRG must be abolished and RCMP must be removed from Wet’suwet’en territory NOW.
