6 for SIX in 2026

In the May 2023 local elections in England, the Green Party nearly doubled our number of councillors with 200 net gains - and some local parties went from just two councillors to 6, 8 or even 12 more, something we are keen to repeat here in Newham in 2026!

Newham Green Party has an ambitious target to elect SIX or more councillors at the next local elections here in 2026 - to TRIPLE the number of Green councillors in Newham!

We know what our colleagues did to win in May 2023 around the country.

To do that we have a plan of action -

and to achieve that plan we need our members - YOU - to do it. We really can't do it without you.

We need your help, regularly, over the next few years until 2026.

So, we'd like to ask you, our valued members, if you can make a commitment to help us get SIX or more Green councillors elected to Newham council in 2026.

Or attend 6 action days in every 6 months...

In May 2022 we elected our first two councillors Nate Higgins and Danny Keeling to the London Borough of Newham council - the first Green Party representation on the council and, indeed, the first opposition councillors elected to Newham council in 16 years. We stood in every seat in Newham and as a result, overall in Newham as a whole, the Green Party came second with over 16% of the vote.

We achieved this by getting members like you engaged with our campaign and many of you came out knocking on doors with us or delivering leaflets in the year and months before the 2022 election.

Now for the next few years we need to do all that again!

We need to keep working hard for residents in Stratford Olympic Park ward, as well as pushing out into new wards to get councillors elected there too. We want to get SIX or more Green councillors elected in 2026, across at least three wards.

We need YOUR help, over the next three years, to reach residents across Newham. Together we'll need to knock on thousands of doors, deliver thousands of Green Newsletters, pick up thousands of pieces of litter and report hundreds of street defects. We'll also need people to help us with admin, data entry, graphic design, newsletter writing and envelope stuffing etc behind the scenes.

The snap by-election in July 2023 in Boleyn, where we came third despite a lot of work in the six weeks of the campaign, showed us that without the campaigning in the ward in the months and years before the election (just as we did in Stratford Olympic Park) we can't win. Nor can we run the campaign we need to run if we don't have enough volunteers...

So the commitment is - can you spare us SIX hours of your time a month?

That could be attending two action days a month or helping us write newsletter articles or creating graphics, or helping us organise events.

Can YOU spare us 6 hours of your time a month?

Or, if you can't commit to that, how about attending 6 action days in every 6 months?

We understand everyone is busy, so perhaps you can't spare the time regularly - we'll still appreciate occasional help of course!

Alternatively, you may be able to help us financially instead - if just 42 members make a regular monthly donation of £6 or more, we'll be able to produce the literature and place the social media ads that we'll need to reach the residents we need -- to get SIX or more councillors elected in 2026.
