Want to see a second Green Councillor in Newtown & St Leonards?

Be part of making this a reality!

Councillor Andy Ketchin was elected as the first Green for Newtown & St Leonard's ward in May this year. We have a strong chance of getting a second Green elected in May next year - but only with your help!

My name is Lynn Wetenhall, and I am proud and excited to have been selected as the Newtown & St Leonard's candidate for next May. I know how much hard work that lay behind Andy's election success, and we need to do the same again if I am to win next May. Can you help me win and grow our Green Group Councillors in Exeter?

I'm interested - how can I help?

Here are some of the ways you can help, no matter if you can only offer a little time now and then, or regular help;

  • Door knocking. This is the 'secret weapon' that wins elections. Turning up to talk to people really does convince them to vote for us.  We call on residents to ask them if they have neighbourhood issues to raise. Most people are delighted that someone is taking the trouble to ask. It's a fun group activity, absolutely not scary or difficult, contrary to what people might think.  I am running an informal meet up at my house for anyone who wants to find out more about door knocking. Wednesday November 22nd, 7.00 - 8.30pm. Please come along as even if you don't end up doing it, it's a nice chance to meet other volunteers and for me to meet those of you i don't already know. See below for details.

  • Delivering ward newsletters.   We deliver to 4500 people in the ward, every few weeks -  that takes lot of delivery volunteers. If you haven't given it a try, it's really easy. We ask if you can help deliver a newsletter and if you say 'yes', you pick up a bundle from somewhere convenient for you, and deliver it within a fortnight, in your own time. It should take one person, one hour to deliver their bundle.  If you want to find out more, email ntsl@exeter.greenparty.org.uk or ring me on 0797 4414613
  • Ward research and practical admin. We need people who are interested in doing local research, taking pictures of issues brought to our attention, and the odd bit of 'gofering'
  • Communications. Can you write and/or create social media infographics and content? We need help creating attention-grabbing images, text and newsletters
  • Social and fundraising activities. Perhaps you like bringing people together, or organising the odd event? All ideas and offers gratefully received.

Door knocking meet up & social

wednesday nov 22nd 7.00pm  all welcome

When: ? November 22nd   7.00 - 8.30pm

Where : 50 Well Oak Park, EX2 5BB.  RSVP if you are coming please.

Message 0797 4414613 or email ntsl@exeter.greenparty.org.uk

Come to a fun, informal meet up to find out more about why door knocking really is what wins local elections, and why it is genuinely fun and rewarding. Absolutely no pressure to  agree to do it afterwards.  Just come along with an open mind, and enjoy a chance to meet fellow local Greens. Light refreshments provided.

NB Because of a recent and ongoing illness, I have limited mobility which means door knocking is difficult for me to do alone. This is a serious set back as door knocking by the candidate is critical to winning. So,  I am looking for 2 or 3 people who would be happpy to be my doorknocking assistants - holding the paperwork and filling in information I provide, so I can focus on talking to residents without having to hold anything, as I need to use walking poles to get about. This would be ideal for someone who would enjoy being out and about with me at mutually convenient times, but who doesn't enjoy face to face conversation. If this is of interest and you can't come on Nov 22nd, please do get in touch at 0797 4414613 or ntsl@exeter.greenparty.org.uk
