Candidate Endorsement - Giselle Martinez The interview committee has unanimously voted to send Giselle Martinez who is running to represent Ward 1 in the City of Newburgh to the full chapter with a recommendation to endorse. Giselle is a great example of the kind of elected we look to build relationships with. She has a great platform and is looking to work with us in supporting important issues like Public Power and the New York Health Act. Giselle will be running a primary against two other candidates for this seat. Both of her opponents represent a step backwards for ward 1 which means that our potential endorsement and support is all the more needed. Every vote counts! Candidate Endorsement - Philip Erner The Electoral Working Group's Interview Committee has voted to send Philip Erner to the entire chapter for a vote on endorsement! Phil is running for Ulster County Legislature District 6 which has parts of Kingston in it. He is primarying David Donaldson, a conservative Democrat. The primary is June 22nd. Phil is a committed socialist as you can see from the candidate questionnaire and interview included below. We encourage all members to take time to review these materials and consider endorsing him. Candidate Endorsement - Sarah Salem The Electoral Working Group's Interview Committee has voted to send Sarah Salem to the entire chapter for a vote on endorsement! Sarah is running to continue serving as the Common Councilmember At-Large for the City of Poughkeepsie. Sarah has been a long time member of the MHVDSA and is committed to fighting for transformational changes to systemic issues and injustices that are impacting the people of Poughkeepsie. Sarah is in a primary running against three other candidates. We hope through our potential endorsement and support to help Sarah keep their seat and fight on issues like police reform, environmental issues, and affordable housing.
