Center Community, Shut Down HERC
What's going on?
The HERC is a dangerous, toxic trash burner that has negatively impacted the health of community members, specifically Black/brown and low-income residents, for decades. There is a plan being developed by County staff right now to identify a shutdown date for HERC with no plans for how the community will be engaged in the process. We are concerned that without community engagement, the proposed timeline will not be acceptable for those most affected by HERC’s air pollution. We must call on our county commissioners to ensure community stakeholders have input and power when determining the shut date of HERC.
How you can help

Call, email, and post on social media to pressure the 7 county commissioners with the tools o on the right. “We know there is a developing shutdown plan for HERC. The County needs to begin addressing the historical harm of this facility in this plan by committing to centering impacted community in determining a shut-down date.”
