CYBER MONDAY CALENDAR JAM

The Ship It Zero campaign just released our “Shady Routes” report, with groundbreaking new research that uncovers the close ties between polluting maritime cargo carriers and Amazon, Walmart, and Target.

Here’s the topline: With pandemic-fueled consumer demand increases, record-breaking profits for both retailers and carriers, and the supply chain crisis, it’s obvious the current maritime shipping system is ripe for transformation.

The report uncovers the close relationship between these three retail giants and the top 15 cargo carriers – suggesting that they can work together to be industry leaders and early adopters of zero-emissions technology. Shady Routes shows that Target and Amazon have played an outsized role in the current West Coast port pollution crisis. We can’t let them continue to put short-term profit over public health and the climate by making empty commitments that put off action on climate change until it’s too late.

Join our Cyber Monday calendar jam to make sure top executives from Amazon, Walmart, and Target can’t ignore the groundbreaking findings of the “Shady Routes” report.

How to join the Calendar Jam:

  • Open your calendar app, such as Gmail or Outlook. We’re going to be sending calendar invites to Amazon, Target, and Walmart executives, and the Ship It Zero team (so we can track how many invites are sent out).
  • Pick a time in your calendar TODAY, Cyber Monday (Monday, November 29) between working hours (9:00am and 5:00pm EST). Title your meeting something like: “Read the Shady Routes report”, or “Clean up ocean shipping!” – or get creative with your titles, but be sure to keep it respectful!
  • Include the report in the calendar invitation, either by copying and pasting the link straight into the description section or by attaching it to the calendar invitation.
  • Copy all of the following email addresses and paste them into the invite field of your event:
    ajassy@amazon.com, bezosj@amazon.com, brian@amazon.com, Brian.Cornell@target.com, Katie.Boylan@target.com, Michael.Fiddelke@target.com, Doug.McMillon@walmart.com, Dan.Bartlett@walmart.com, Brett.Biggs@walmart.com,  info@shipitzero.org
  • Make sure to click “send invitations” so the executives get an email notification as well. Note for mobile users: You'll likely have to copy and paste these contacts in one at a time
  • Rinse and repeat. Hot tip: multiple invitations are more effective than long events. Retail executives will have to decline each and every invitation, making it literally impossible to ignore our calendar invitations.
