U.S. sanctions are blocking medical supplies from getting to Iran, and have frozen Iran’s ability to lockdown parts of the country to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Rep. Ilhan Omar, Sen Sanders, and other prominent members of Congress are urging Secretaries Pompeo and Mnuchin to lift sanctions for 120 days to give Iranian doctors a fighting chance.

Dear Senator/Representative,

My name is [ ] and I live in [ ]. As your constituent, I ask that you please sign the letter by Reps. Ocasio-Cortez, Omar, Sens. Sanders, Warren, and others, demanding a temporary 120-day suspension of sanctions to allow access for relief for Iran during the coronavirus pandemic.

At least 3.5 million Iranians are projected to die of COVID-19 without sanctions relief. Right now, U.S. sanctions are limiting access to critical medical equipment, supplies, and medicine to fight coronavirus and prevent its spread. This is a humanitarian crisis.

It is unfair to ask your constituents to flatten the global curve if you are not doing your part to flatten the global curve, and lift sanctions so that Iranian doctors can have a fighting chance to contain the coronavirus. This is a global health crisis and we can only stop this pandemic through international cooperation and humanitarian aid.
