Energy 101: Power in NY State

When: Thursday, May 27th at 7pm

Members of New York Energy Democracy Alliance will present on topics such as Energy 101: How to Read your Energy Bill and what 100% Renewable Energy looks like in NY.

An Introduction to Public Power NY

When: June 3rd at 7pm

Where: Zoom

Guest speakers from the MHVDSA Eco-Socialism Working Group will present what public power is and promote the current campaign being organized by Public Power NY, a statewide coalition fighting for energy democracy and a just transition to renewables. There will be a brief overview of the energy grid and some discussion on the NY Build Public Renewables Act. A bill to create over 51,000 jobs across the state building publicly owned renewables to get to the goals set forth by the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act. Following the overview will be a Q&A and actions people can take to help support the Public Power NY campaign as we enter the final stretch of the legislative session.
