Indivisible KC Kansas Actions: Week of November 20
Hello Fellow Kansans,
First of all, thank you to everyone who came out to the Hands Off My Birth Control event this past week. You can catch the event story HERE.
In National News, it's all about the GOP Tax Bill. The House passed their version almost along party lines. Thirteen GOP congresspeople joined the Democrats to vote NO. The Senate version passed through the Finance Committee and will be headed to the floor for a full vote the week after Thanksgiving. Also, we saw progress on background checks. A bipartisan billwas introduced.
In local Kansas City news, Mayor Sly James says the GOP Tax Bill will cripple the efforts to revitalize KCI Aiport. "The mayor singled out proposals to eliminate Private Activity Bonds in the House GOP bill, and eliminating the Advanced Refunding Bonds in both the House and Senate proposals, noting elimination of the Private Activity Bonds (PAB) could be devastating to financing a new, $1 billion terminal at KCI."

Thanksgiving is a few days away. Our families are gathering from long distances and just around the block. We wanted to pause and consider all that we have and who we are. These are deeply troubled times, but it helps to look at how we have traveled rocky roads before, from the founders to the modern day.
“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” — John F. Kennedy
We look forward to seeing you on the front lines of democracy in the coming year. Thank you for stepping up to live by your words and to invest yourself in the radical action of hope. Thank you for being part of Indivisible Kansas City.
