Indivisible KC Missouri Actions Week of November 27
Hello fellow Missourians,
We hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
In National News, it's all about the GOP Tax Bill. The House passed their version almost along party lines. Thirteen GOP congresspeople joined the Democrats to vote NO. The Senate version passed through the Finance Committee and will be headed to the floor for a full vote the week after Thanksgiving.
In Missouri news:
- Governor Greitens faced a major setback in his attempt to stack Missouri's educational system with partisan, pro-privatization appointees when the state school board refused to vote out State Education Commissioner Margie Vandeven. Thank you for your calls and emails on this important issue! The Governor has used his typical strong arm tactics to intimidate or remove education department members who resist his agenda, so out fight isn't over yet. The board meets again December 1st.
- The Clean Missouri Initiative, the single most important tool we have to fight corruption and partisan gerrymandering, still needs 5000 signatures to reach our goal in the Kansas City area. We strongly encourage you to get out there and gather signatures! We owe it to our children and to the Americans who came before us to do what we can to protect Democracy.
