Indivisible KC Week of August 14th - Missouri Menu

We have consolidated our entire week of events into one nicely packaged menu for you! Take a look at each event we have for this week, by clicking on the tiles to your right, or the red links below to see what fits your schedule and your passion.

Here's what we have going on this week:

Announcements:

Last week was really exciting around here! First off, KCMO voted to raise the minimum wage! Congratulations to all those who worked hard calling, canvassing and supporting the issue! We also have found out that there have been over 300,000 signatures collected to repeal Right To Work legislation, which means the law will NOT go into effect at the end of the month.

In addition to that great news, we also had two exciting opportunities for our members.  On Wednesday, we met with Jason Kander as we rallied outside of city hall with the Drive for Our Lives bus tour! Then on Wednesday night we were treated to a special, free screening of An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power. KC was one of only 14 cities nationwide who were selected to hold these free screenings.  Right before the movie started we were treated to a special message from Former Vice President Al Gore himself! He encouraged us all to use our voices, keep up the work and remember to #BeInconvenient! Thank you all for continuing to put in the work to make your voices heard!

As we said in last week's menu we have changed our office visit schedules.  Senate office visits will now be on the 1st and 3rd weeks of the month, Representative office visits will be on the 2nd and 4th week of the month.

Missouri Mondays:

This week we are using the inspiration from the An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power and we are calling our local city officials. Click HERE for more details.

Special Events from other local organizations:

8/15/17 - 6 PM - Defend DACA Day of Action This Tuesday, August 15th, is the five year anniversary of the first young immigrants being able to submit DACA applications for immigration relief. Now, under Trump, DACA and TPS recipients face the unthinkable prospect that they could be ripped from their homes, with DACA facing a major threat as early as next month. On August 15th, all across the country, we are showing up and speaking out with, and for immigrant youth. Click HERE for details on the KC Rally hosted by KS/MO Dream Alliance.

We look forward to seeing you this week!

In solidarity,

--Indivisible KC
