Pay Transparency Project

As tech companies have lay-off workers en masse, many workers in the tech industry—from contract to full time employees—face a unique situation. While some categories of tech workers have historically experienced high levels of job security and compensation, it’s clear that tech employers are coordinating their layoffs to take more power in the tech labor market from the workers. As socialists, we have a unique opportunity to combat the narrative of layoffs as an unavoidable consequence of the markets and raise the class consciousness of tech workers, who are also workers that must sell their labor for wages. The SDSA tech worker organizing subcommittee has started a Pay Transparency campaign to help radicalize and organize tech workers.
