Stop Trump's Sabotage of the ACA

The GOP continues their assault on the ACA: the Trump Tax Scam fight and the TrumpCare fight are one and the same. Last week, the Senate Finance Committee added a repeal of the individual mandate—a key pillar of the Affordable Care Act—to their version of the tax scam bill. In other words, their plan is to leave 13 million Americans uninsured, with premiums an extra 10% higher, in order to give bigger tax cuts to the top 1%. If people were on the sidelines in the tax fight before, now’s the time to get engaged. Here are ways you can resist:

  • Show up for statewide day of actions on 11/21 and get ready for 11/27. See full list of 11/21 actions here and resources to participate on social media actions on 11/21 here. Indivisible is also calling for a day of action on 11/27. Register or search for an 11/27 event in your area.

  • Get the Word Out on ACA Enrollment. The Trump administration has cut funding for ACA enrollment. Indivisible has created a Toolkit you can use with your group to fill the gap.  You can also join PHAN’s calling campaign to patch people through to Navigators so they can enroll in coverage in time for 2018. • Demand Congress Renew Funding for CHIP. Federal funding for CHIP expired on September 30th. Funding bills have been introduced in the House and Senate. The House GOP has proposed a bill (the "HEALTHY KIDS" Act) that would fund CHIP by cutting more than $5 billion from the Affordable Care Act's Prevention and Public Health Fund. Urge your Member of Congress to support a bipartisan CHIP reauthorization effort and pass a clean reauthorization bill.

  • Stop Rollback of Birth Control Coverage. The White House has rolled back ACA protections for birth control access. Sign NARAL’s petition and then by December 5th, leave a comment on the proposed ruling and demand a public hearing on the issue at the Federal Register page.

  • Record a video on why you oppose the tax plan. Following the vote by the House of Representatives to pass their tax plan, the DCCC has launched a new website (taxcutsandjobsact.com) where folks can record short videos of their personal stories on why they oppose the tax plan. See more here: TaxCutsAndJobsAct.com. They are especially looking for folks in PA-06/07/08/15, so if you are or know anyone in those districts, please feel free to pass along!
