Strike Ready Campaign
The Democratic Socialists of America and DSA Labor launched the 2023 Strike Ready Campaign at the 2023 DSA Conference, pledging to support the UPS Teamsters’ contract demands, and, if it comes to a strike, to stand alongside them on the picket line. Over 120 members from across the country gathered at the press conference alongside union leaders and elected officials at Chicago’s UE Hall to announce the launch of the campaign. Details about the Strike Ready campaign are listed below.
The DSA recently voted to make supporting the UPS Teamsters’ contact fight the number one priority of the organization in 2023. The organization has a national industrial network of UPS workers who have a direct stake in the fight.
DSA Labor and DSA Electoral organized a letter signed by over 60 elected officials from all levels of government pledging to support the UPS Teamsters’ contract negotiations and work alongside their local Teamsters.
DSA chapters are being asked to publicly commit to the Strike Ready Pledge, support their local rank-and-file UPS Teamsters, run fundraisers for the Labor Solidarity Fund, canvass their community, and ask their local elected officials to commit to the pledge as well. Chapters will have access to funding from DSA’s National Solidarity Fund to support local UPS actions and workers.
Long Island DSA has made the Strike Ready campaign a priority campaign for the chapter and are pledging to support the UPS Teamsters in their fight for a just contract.
