Connect with your community, have a conversation, grow the movement!
Join us the third week of September, to organize or participate in a basic income event in your community!
There's a range of types of events that can help engage and activate communities around the idea of basic income. Picnics, car parades, tabling at a farmers market, marches.
This year we are going deep into supporting and hosting Film Screenings, as a way to bring a broad range of people into exploring the ideas of basic income.
The Power of Film for Movements Over the last year, our work in the community has shown us that we are collectively concerned about both growing the base of people who understand and support basic income, and in creating the narrative change and culture shift necessary for widespread adoption of the idea. When advocating for basic income, we often come across narratives that are simply not true – from distrust in people living in poverty, to judgements around deservedness, to the fear that people will stop working if we were to have basic income.
For our 2023 Day of Action, we are leaning into education to leverage the powerful tools of culture change we already have in our community! Films are an amazing resource for movements to start conversations, change hearts and minds, and connect everyday people to a movement and the ideas behind them.
We have worked closely with filmmakers to develop impactful conversation guides and activities for the films Storming Caesar's Palace,Inherent Good, andRaising The Floor. If you're hosting a watch party, we'll support you with access to the film and conversation guides. If you are attending a watch party, check out their trailers and get excited!
See a pin on the map in your city? Click on it to sign up to attend. If there is not yet a pin in your city, consider hosting a screening party. Join us to be part of this fun, exciting, collective day of action.
