On October 19 and 20, people across the country will gather in living rooms, community centers, and playgrounds to talk about how the President's proposed cuts to SNAP (a.k.a. food stamps) will take free school lunch away from HALF A MILLION kids–and how to do something about it.
SNAP is an invaluable program in the fight against hunger. Studies show that children need good nutrition to do well in school. Over the last month, ParentsTogether members have been sounding the alarm to save SNAP and free school lunch–and now, we want to bring the conversation to friends, family, neighbors, and our cities' leaders.
Hosting a house meeting is one of the most important things you can do to save free school lunch! Lots of people want to take action, but they need a place to gather, meet each other, and make plans together. Our house meetings will allow participants to have in-depth discussions focused on the need for SNAP in their own communities. Then they'll create action plans to visit key leaders and elected officials to deliver our petition signatures and encourage them to speak out publicly to protect SNAP.
We believe it's possible to #SaveSchoolLunch and feed hungry kids–and we'd love to have you join us!
