Housing Justice for All Lobby Day for UNIVERSAL RENT CONTROL!

Start: Tuesday, February 25, 202010:00 AM

In 2019, the Housing & Stability Tenant Protection Act provided the biggest improvements to tenant protections in New York in the past 40 years! But Market Rate tenants- those without Rent Stabilization- still have a long way to go. Julia Salazar's "Good Cause Eviction" bill (S2892A/A5030A) would do two MAJOR things for Market Rate tenants:

  1. Limit the amount a landlord can raise the rent on ANY New Yorker when they renew their lease, regardless of whether or not they are Rent Stabilized.
  2. Require that landlords offer ALL New Yorkers the opportunity to renew their lease at the end of it's term and prevent them from evicting their tenants without good cause.

If you're a Market Rate tenant- or you just think that people shouldn't have to live in fear of eviction or their rents being jacked up by greedy landlords, then please come and join us in Albany so we can take that message of solidarity to our elected officials!

Busses/vans usually leave from New York Communities for Change's Long Island office at 91. N Franklin Street in Hempstead at around 6AM, and return around 5PM. Additional details will be available closer to the date of the event. RSVP and we'll email you travel information as soon as it's available!
