2021 MLK Day Event (Virtual)

Start: 2021-01-18 11:00:00 UTC Central Standard Time (US & Canada) (GMT-06:00)

This is a virtual event

HOPE Fair Housing Center is excited to continue it's tradition of hosting a day of service and reflection in honor of the great Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we'll be livestreaming our event via Zoom.

We are honored to announce that our keynote speaker will be current Illinois Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton! As the first African American to hold this office, Stratton is passionate about equity and putting passion into government policymaking. During her time in office, Lieutenant Governor Stratton has fought for equity and opportunity in communities across Illinois, carrying forward the same drive for justice that Dr. King marched with decades ago. She will be discussing Dr. King’s legacy, the importance of fair housing in civil rights, and her personal experiences fighting for justice.

In addition to our keynote address, HOPE will also be highlighting the youth-driven community service projects we funded through our MLK Day grant, to pay tribute to Dr. King’s commitment to service.
