35th Annual Labor Day Parade & Picnic

On behalf of the Marquette Alger Community Labor Council, AFL-CIO and the U.P. Regional Labor
Federation, AFL-CIO, we are pleased to invite you and your organization to participate in the 35rd Annual
Labor Day Festival! The event will be held in Negaunee on Labor Day, Monday, September 2th, 2023.
Parade line up starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Negaunee Senior Center parking lot off of Tobin Street and
Clark Street. The Festival will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a parade beginning at Tobin Street and Iron
Street then looping back along Rail Street to the park. The theme of this year’s parade is “Labor Votes! It’s Better in a Union”. We encourage Local Unions to march and enter floats in the parade that reflect the theme.

After the parade, there will be a picnic and rally from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Jim Thomas Pavilion and Jackson Mine Park located at 199 Tobin Street in Negaunee. We will be having a picnic lunch - your choice of a pasty or 2 hot dogs & chips, desert and pop, milk or water. Adult beverages will be sold, along with additional pop and water. The rally will begin at 1:00 pm and includes music, speeches from union officials and other family activities.

In addition, The event is costly and labor intensive, so we are asking for all affiliates and participants

contribute in these ways:
1. Make a cash donation to the U.P. RLF to help defray the cost. Donations may be sent care of the
U.P. Regional Labor Federation, P.O. Box 129, Marquette, MI 49855.
2. Purchase food/beverage tickets in advance by contacting Tony Ghiringhelli at president@uprlf.org

3. Recruit volunteer workers for the day of the event. Please email a list of volunteers (names and
