‘The idea of a “Job Guarantee” is to tackle capitalist economies’ inability of creating full employment’

Join the organisers at Our Global Moment for a workshop on ‘A European Job Guarantee’.

In the workshop we will discuss the theoretical background of a Job Guarantee, and explore why it is time and again discussed as a progressive policy – and how this is relevant in the current European context.

We will touch upon questions which will come up when talking to friends, fellow activists and people in the streets about a Job Guarantee. And we will build a basic understanding of how we can fight for such a policy in the realm of the European Green Deal and the Just Transition.

This is a guided workshop: we'll provide clarification on themes and concepts, and prepare prompts for discussion.

The required reading will be 30 min per week.

We will have two dates Thursday 15th July and Thursday 22nd July.

We will meet from 7pm – 9pm Central European Time.

This workshop is part of a series on progressive theory and strategy. The purpose of the group is to allow participants an opportunity to connect theory with experience, to become comfortable discussing complex ideas, and to be able to use critical theory to guide political action.

Our Global Moment is establishing a European network of progressive campaign bases rooted in power-building and internationalism, to fulfill a vision of global cooperation on inequality.
