Attend a shared conversation to explore how the Mutual Aid Network framework can support local goals
Mutual Aid Networks (MANs) are a new type of networked cooperative ‘creating means for everyone to discover and succeed in work they want to do, with the support of their community.’
MANs are a legal, financial, and social framework for coming together around common goals, carrying out work, and earning access to resources in a system of mutual support that includes sharing, time banking, pooled money, and more. A DIY way to redo our economy by redoing how we work together. Ultimately we aim to make it easier to do the community work of your choosing, without all the overhead of the regular NGO structure. For example, a Mutual Aid Network cooperative can be a framework to support a disaster response team, or to develop a community wealth-generating neighborhood resource center, or to make and maintain a commons garden, or to build more restorative justice options, or to create a care team for well-being in the neighborhood, etc.
Lots of people and organizations around the world are organizing in this way, and the more we support each other and share our learning, the more effective we can be.
Let’s see what more we can do together. The possibilities are endless and our exploration of them is just beginning.
What would it look like if everyone were doing the work they loved, what they felt called to do? What if everyone had the opportunity to build their skills to their maximum capabilities and then apply them to making their communities whole and beautiful?
