A two-state solution in Israel-Palestine may seem further away than ever, but there are groups from both nationalities who are working together to find answers. One of these is A Land for All (ALFA), a joint movement of Israelis and Palestinians who believe that long-lasting peace, security and stability for both peoples can only come about by a ‘federation’ of two independent - not separate - states, through the creation of a joint framework that allows both peoples to live together and apart.
ALFA recognises that both Arab-Palestinians and Israeli-Jews are part of the same shared homeland and already have intertwined lives on both sides of the Green Line. Building more walls between them is neither realistic nor desirable, so creating ‘A Land for All’ provides pragmatic and viable solutions to establish a future based on power sharing and common interests.
ALFA started over ten years ago from a series of meetings between Israeli journalist Meron Rapoport and Palestinian activist Awni Al-Mashni. They drew in a diverse group of Palestinians and Israelis, including researchers, community leaders, and activists. ALFA is one shared vision, with Israelis and Palestinians operating both collaboratively as well as independently in their respective communities. ALFA is jointly led by Dr. Rula Hardal and May Pundak, two women dedicated to developing and championing shared futures.
