Join us on Wednesday the 27th of January at 19.00 GMT for the third in a series of 5 weekly Wednesday webinars. We, the Irish Chapter of World Beyond War, will interview a number of people who have been thinking about war. About who wins and who loses? How it is waged and financed. How it impacts the civilian populations of the world. How it contributes to human misery. Its effects on the environment. All of that and more. And how it doesn't have to be like this. The series will be on at 19.00-19.45 (GMT) and start on January the 13th and run for the following five Wednesdays concluding on February the 10th.
This week's conversation, "Militarism and the Environment: Losing Connection," will explore how militarism does not just destroy individual lives but is in danger of bringing life itself on the planet to an end. Militarism cuts at the heart of the unique and sacred relationship we have with the planet. A relationship which sustains and nourishes us and gives us life. Militarism destroys this sacred connection. But what are some of the particular ways that militarism does this and how can we ensure that these sacred and life-giving connections are protected and maintained? In this talk Dave Donnellan will explore some of these urgent questions.
