This is a virtual event

Join us for the first in a series of 5 weekly Wednesday webinars. We, the Irish Chapter of World Beyond War, will interview a number of people who have been thinking about war. About who wins and who loses? How it is waged and financed. How it impacts the civilian populations of the world. How it contributes to human misery. Its effects on the environment. All of that and more. And how it doesn't have to be like this. The series will be on at 19.00-19.45 (GMT) and start on January the 13th and run for the following five Wednesdays concluding on February the 10th.

This week's conversation will look at Ireland, the United Nations and the Security Council with Denis Halliday. January 13th. For the fourth time in our history, starting on 1 January 2021, Ireland will have a seat on the UN Security Council. But what does that mean for Ireland, for the world? We talk to former Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations and arch critic of the UN Security Council, Dubliner Denis Halliday.

Note: At the speaker's request, we have pre-recorded this interview with Denis Halliday. All other interviews in this 5-part series will be live-streamed on Zoom, which will allow for interactive engagement with all participants.
