End: Saturday, November 09, 2024• 2:00 PM
Colleagues, you are invited to attend your AAUP-SC Fall 2024 Meeting -- online or in person on the campus of Wofford College in Spartanburg. This meeting is hosted by the AAUP chapters at Wofford College and USC Upstate.
Please RSVP here in Action Network if you plan to attend in any way (in person or online). Please see the linked flier (CLICK HERE) for information about where to park and plans for lunch. Zoom links for those attending online will be emailed before the meeting.
Our Guest Speaker will be Emily Houh, the Gustavus Henry Wald Professor of the Law and Contracts at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where she has been teaching contracts, sales law, and critical race theory since 2003. Much of her writing focuses on how contract law and critical race theory intersect and, increasingly, on academic freedom. Emily was a member of the AAUP’s Committee A on Academic Freedom and Tenure from 2018-2024, and has served on many other AAUP ad hoc committees, including several investigating committees and its Special Committee on Governance, Academic Freedom, and Institutional Racism in the University of North Carolina System (Report here) and its Special Committee on Academic Freedom in Florida (Report here).
Your SC Conference of AAUP Chapters advances shared governance and academic freedom, and organizes to improve working conditions for all in higher education in the Palmetto State. We gather because it is good for us to be together, share experiences, and work for the greater good.
