This November 9th, join ACT UP Philly as we amplify our ignored demands for OHS to prioritize the safety of unhoused people, brought week after week to Mayor Kenney’s home in Old City. Together with the National Union of the Homeless we will join the new and unsettling force of their Winter Offensive organizing drive to hold our government accountable to the united demands of the poor and dispossessed.

ACT UP will conduct an Overnight Occupation and Teach-In at City Hall to demand systemic change from our city. While the poor and homeless experience the most deadly conditions, the capitalist pretense of holiday charity provides false narratives and stereotypes about the cause of homelessness. In Philadelphia alone, there are 6,000 homeless individuals and families, but over 130,000 vacant and abandoned houses.

Teach-in topics will include a history of homeless occupations, occupy movements around the world and a civil disobedience training. Be on the alert for further updates coming soon via the ACT UP Philly mailing list and social media.
