Action day: light audit
Start: Wednesday, December 18, 2024• 6:00 PM
Location:Community Room•32 Waterloo Gardens, London, E2 9HX GB
As it is getting darker, we will do an audit of the street lights in Bow West. This will be the last Action Day of the year, so we will make it an extra festive and fun one!
We will meet at the (indoor) co-op space on Waterloo Gardens from 6pm. We will have two special guests:
- The founder of Dark Sky London -- a community group that aims to reduce light pollution in London -- will be there to tell us about light pollution and what we can do to improve artificial light options in Tower Hamlets
- A representative from Bats London -- a bat conservation trust -- will tell us about their work and what we can do to help bats in Tower hamlets.
After these talks from our guests (and a cuppa or two!), we will venture out into the dark to have look at different forms of (artificial) light in the area and discuss both good examples of lighting and examples of public light sources that need improving. Our walk will take a total of 30 minutes and will finish at a local pub, where those interested are welcome to join us for a chat and a drink.
Do bring some comfortable shoes to walk in. We hope to see many of you there!
