Activist Afternoons May 5

Start: Sunday, May 05, 2019 4:00 PM

End: Sunday, May 05, 2019 6:00 PM

Activist Afternoons is a way for all members of our community to gather and take action on the issues and elections we care about.

We meet weekly on Sundays at 4pm, at Workbar Central Square, 45 Prospect Street in Cambridge to continue our work in civic engagement and political advocacy.

Cambridge Area Stronger Together presents: CAST in the Community – a Learning Series.
Please join us for our kickoff discussion on May 5th: How Campaigns Work: Local, State and National Organizing, with Margie Pullo, Founder & CEO, Lit Campaigns.

About the presenter: Margie Pullo is the co-founder and CEO of Lit Campaigns. Before founding Lit, Margie worked for Atty General Maura Healey. Her first job in politics was as an organizer for Senator Elizabeth Warren’s 2012 campaign.

  • Voter Choice Massachusetts, the grassroots movement in support of ranked choice voting, will be making phone calls to supporters, asking them to attend a canvassing event or to call their representative to support the two ranked choice voting bills currently in the state house and senate.
  • Environmental Voter Project will be texting to activate low-propensity voters who care deeply about the environment. Every one of these registered but inactive voters we get to the Polls in the Denver Mayoral election will be a voter in 2020!
  • Swing Left Greater Boston is collaborating with the Sarasota Dems to send survey postcards to registered Democrats in Sarasota County who did not vote in the 2018 elections. There is a suggested contribution for postage.
  • Act on Mass will be phone banking constituents of State Reps on the Public Safety Committee to pressure for their support advancing the Safe Communities Act.

*Might phonebank? Please bring a cellphone, laptop and charger. A headset or pair of earphones is also helpful when calling voters or potential volunteers!*
