The TPNW entered into force on January 22, 2021. This milestone in human history prohibits all activities involving nuclear weapons. However, nuclear weapon states and nuclear umbrella states have turned their backs to the TPNW, clinging to nuclear deterrence. Their hegemonic rivalries and nuclear arms race have seriously endangered prospects for peace in Asia and Europe.
