Ageism & Dementia

Dementia isn't an easy subject, and then ageism makes it worse. Ageism gets in the way of talking about dementia and adds more stigma to an already misunderstood condition. Internalized ageism can even increase the risk of dementia.

Join us to learn about misconceptions about dementia and aging and how we can change our beliefs as well as better support those experiencing dementia. This will be an interactive session and questions are welcome!

Experts in the field, Dr. Michelle Olson, Danelle Hubbard and Mary Fridley will share examples of how their work helps mitigate ageism (and ableism) through creative expression and nature. Attendees will gain tangible insights into ways to live fully by fostering age-diverse relationships. Learn how to support and honor people living with dementia.

Michelle is the Founder/Executive Director of Evergreen Minds where they believe that everyone has the right to regularly experience fresh air, sunshine and the change of seasons. They also work to reduce the stigma and misconceptions that often surround dementia.
