Smart, worker-focused policy starts at the local level: counties, municipalities, boards and commissions of every size have both an opportunity and an obligation to be policy innovators in addressing the deep inequities that working Oregonians face.

On Wednesday, Oct 20th at 5:30 p.m. join local government officials, union activists and community allies to discuss policy strategies that lift up working families in our communities.

Come learn about worker-focused approaches in tackling racial and gender disparities, affordable housing, public health and creating family-supporting jobs. We'll be joined by leaders from across Oregon, including Oregon Secretary of State Shemia Fagan, who got her start in politics as a school board member just 10 years ago.

Our speakers and panelists for this truly exciting event include:

  • Shemia Fagan, Oregon Secretary of State (and former school board member)
  • Robert Camarillo, Executive Secretary for Oregon Building & Construction Trades Council
  • Danielle Garza, Political and Legislative staff for LiUNA Local 737
  • Joe Berney, Lane County Commissioner
  • Susheela Jayapal, Multnomah County Commissioner
  • Vanessa Nordyke, Salem City Councilor & AFSCME member
  • Maria Hinojos Pressey, Salem Keizer School Board member & PCUN staff member

The summit will be held over zoom -- register today!
