April 4th Moral Assembly and Community Meal

The VT Poor People's Campaign invites you to a Moral Assembly at the Statehouse in Montpelier, noon-1pm followed by a community meal at Christ Episcopal Church 64 State Street, Montpelier 1-2pm. To-go meals will be available for those observing Ramadan and breaking fast in the evening as well as anyone who is unable to stay and eat. ***In the event of bad weather, we will gather at the same nearby church for the assembly at noon***
This is a gathering to:
--Center the voices and interconnected solutions of poor and directly impacted Vermonters especially as many pandemic era relief measures end this spring.
--Honor the true legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King on this anniversary of his assassination, including his creation of the Poor People’s Campaign
--Offer our lawmakers and policymakers some moral courage and needed perspective
--Keep building a network of folks and organizations in our state working to value people and human needs over profit, and to bring an end to unjust entrenched economic and social systems that harm us all.
This Moral Assembly coincides with the holy periods of Ramadan, Holy Week, and the start of Passover calling people of faith into greater commitment to collective justice and liberation.

Únase a nosotros el 4 de abril en Statehouse en Montpelier para una Asamblea Moral de 12 a 1 p. m., seguida de una comida comunitaria, de 1 a 2 p. m. en una iglesia cercana. ***En caso de mal tiempo, nos reuniremos en la misma iglesia cercana para la asamblea al mediodía***

Esta es una reunión para:

--Centrar las voces y las soluciones interconectadas de los habitantes de Vermont pobres y directamente afectados, especialmente porque muchas medidas de ayuda de la era de la pandemia terminan esta primavera.
