Project Description: Help restore a small eroded stream bank, in Oak Hill Community Park & Forest, by planting live stakes (cuttings of native plants) and seeding native grasses and flowers to reduce sedimentation in our waterways and support local wildlife!

The Plan: Meet in the parking lot at Oak Hill Community Park & Forest then drive or carpool to the work site, which is less than a 5 min drive from the park entrance. Volunteers will regroup and take a short hike to the stream where there will be a brief talk describing the project and a demonstration of how to install livestakes before everyone can jump in and start planting!

How to Prepare: Expect to walk on uneven moderately sloped terrain for 1/2 mile, carrying tools and personal belongings (according to your abilities), and to be outside for 3 hours. We will be working in a primitive part of the park with no restrooms. Wear close toed shoes (waterproof/muck boots if you have them, we will have a few extra available). Not all participants will need to get in the water, but be prepared to get your feet wet just in case! You may want to bring an extra pair of clothes and sun hat/protection, the area is somewhat shaded.

Note: Work gloves, safety goggles, ear plugs, training, tools, snacks & water are provided by Foothills Conservancy for all volunteer events.
